CALIA by Carrie Underwood in Partnership with the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation to Donate $500,000 in Sports Matter Grants to Girls Youth Sports Teams Across the Country
Since 2014, The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation has pledged over $50 million to support teams and raise awareness of the importance of youth sports across the country through its Sports Matter initiative.
To kick off the partnership in her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma, The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation and Underwood herself surprised unsuspecting Checotah Middle School and High School female student-athletes during a summer practice to present a Sports Matter grant of $100,000 to the Checotah School District Girls Athletic Programs.
“I am so honored to partner with The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation to give back to my high school’s girls sports teams,” said Underwood. “Being active in youth sports while growing up helped set the foundation and passion for making fitness an important part of my life today. Participating in sports also taught me important life lessons about dedication and teamwork. Through this donation, we want to make sure there are plenty of opportunities for girls to play sports in Checotah for years to come.”
DICK’S Foundation will be partnering with Underwood’s local C.A.T.S (Checotah, Animal, Town, and School) Foundation and Brian Terry, Checotah High School Principal and Athletic Director, to allocate theSports Matter grant to the girls softball, track and field, basketball, cheerleading and golf teams.
“At DICK’S, we believe sports make people better, and through this partnership, we hope to provide more opportunities for girls to play sports nationwide,” said Lauren Hobart, Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, DICK’S Sporting Goods and President of The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation. “Carrie Underwood knows firsthand the impact sports can have on girls becoming strong, successful woman. The DICK’S Foundation and the CALIA by Carrie Underwood brand are excited to ensure that opportunities for girls to participate in sports continue to exist.”

Nashville, TN – (May 31, 2016) – Seven-time Grammy winner and Pollstar’s three-time top female country touring artist, Carrie Underwood, just wrapped the spring leg of the biggest tour of her career last night in London, ON, Canada. “The Storyteller Tour” rolled in to 47 cities as well as seven different countries, playing to nearly 600,000 people since the tour launched January 30 in Jacksonville, FL. The dramatic in-the-round stage production has been seen by 360-degree sell-out arena crowds across North America in cities such as Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, St. Louis, Denver, Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston, Chicago, Toronto to name just a few. The tour crossed from one coast to the other coast and cities in between as well as traveling overseas to play in Sweden, Norway, Scotland, England, and Ireland as part of Country to Country (C2C), Europe’s biggest country music festival.
Carrie shared a recap video of the spring leg of her tour on her social channels this morning which can be seen here smarturl.it/CUTOURVID. Also, the music video for “Church Bells” was filmed during a live concert in Lincoln, NE at the Pinnacle Bank Arena, and can be viewed here: http://smarturl.it/cuchurchbellsvevo
While on the tour this Spring, Underwood not only earned her 23rd #1 single to date with “Heartbeat,” but in between shows she found time to perform on the GRAMMY Awards, the series finale of American Idol, the American Country Countdown Awards (where she also took home the trophy for Female Vocalist of the Year), and the ACM Awards with her showstopping TV debut of her current single, “Church Bells.” Underwood also visited the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, she was honored and performed at Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity Fight Night, and played four shows at the Grand Ole Opry. Underwood currently has three nominations at this year’s CMT Music Awards including “Video of the Year” which she has won six times, and she was also just nominated for a Teen Choice Award for “Choice Country Artist.”
“The Storyteller Tour – Stories in the Round,” one of her most spectacular concert tours to date, has caught the attention of fans and music critics alike because of the stand-out performances and the dynamic production.
The show “is a no-expense-spared spectacle that highlights her approachable beauty, her roar of a voice and a substantive set of songs that have commanded the charts since her ‘American Idol’ victory a long decade ago.” Atlanta Journal Constitution.
“The most stunning part of the production however, remains Underwood’s voice, strong and nuanced.” – The Boston Globe
“Granted, it’s early in the year, but the songstress dazzled the crowd with relative ease and class that it’s not outside the realm of possibility that she might just reclaim the Female Vocalist of the Year prize from the CMA – and also the top prize of Entertainer of the Year. To say she deserves it would be a huge understatement, because from a pure standpoint of vocals and showmanship, no other female vocalist comes close!” – Sounds Like Nashville
“Underwood’s two-hour Monday night show (Feb. 22) was anything but a traditional country show, as the superstar presented a visual spectacle with a stage set-up that has to be seen to be believed.” –Billboard
“If they came (fans) for an arena spectacle with absolutely perfect, dead-on vocals, this was your All-American Girl.” – Pittsburgh Post Gazette
“Lasers and swaying spotlights and fireworks and explosions all added to the spectacle. But make no mistake, Underwood was the star of the show.” – Florida Times-Union
The Washington Post claimed she’s “at the top of her game”
“The singer flawlessly delivered note-perfect versions of her biggest hits over the years…” Sounds Like Nashville
The show’s “presentation is overwhelming, from start to finish- a spectacular sensory overload that had the crowd roaring all night long.” –Hampton Daily Press
“the in-the-round setting provides each concertgoer with the best experience possible. Simpler still is the storytelling aspect of the show and country music’s reliance on conveying memorable stories in song.”- Rolling Stone Country
“Underwood demonstrated that she now truly can stare unflinchingly into those lights and dominate a stage, with a confidence, defiance, and a sense of ownership that have been a treat to watch come to fruition.” – Boston Globe
The show “served proof once again why the singer remains one of the most popular in the format.” – Sounds Like Nashville
“A rock-solid, deftly sequenced hour-and-45-minue long set, which moved from playful to solemn, smooth to twangy, and from cinematic scope to smaller, intimate moments.”-The BostonGlobe

The 2016 tour is in support of Carrie’s Gold-certified Storyteller album, which made a historic debut in October when she became the only artist in the chart’s 51-year history to have each of her first six albums to enter the chart at #1. The album has produced two #1 singles so far with “Smoke Break” and “Heartbeat,” with it’s third single, “Church Bells,” currently climbing the charts.
A donation of $1 from each ticket sold on the U.S. dates of “The Storyteller Tour” will be contributed to the C.A.T.S Foundation to help aid its causes including Checotah, Oklahoma’s education and literacy programs. Established in 2009, the C.A.T.S. (Checotah Animal, Town, and School) Foundation helps with general causes, needs, and services in the area of Checotah, Oklahoma, Carrie’s hometown, to directly impact the community.

Carrie Underwood Extends Spectacular Tour through Fall 2016
“I always love being on the road performing for my fans,” shares Underwood, “but something about this tour feels more magnetic than ever. Having a 360-degree view of the audience gives me the opportunity to connect with more fans and feed off their energy. I can’t wait to continue this tour into the fall!”

Concert review critics have applauded Underwood’s confidence and command over the massive stage that spans the entire length of the arena floor. The Washington Post claimed she’s “at the top of her game,” and the Hampton Daily Press said the show’s “presentation is overwhelming, from start to finish- a spectacular sensory overload that had the crowd roaring all night long.” Rollingstonecountry.com praised “the in-the-round setting provides each concertgoer with the best experience possible. Simpler still is the storytelling aspect of the show and country music’s reliance on conveying memorable stories in song.” The Boston Globe stated, Underwood “demonstrated that she now truly can stare unflinchingly into those lights and dominate a stage, with a confidence, defiance, and a sense of ownership that have been a treat to watch come to fruition.
