“So Small” Makes Chart History!!
Nashville, TN – Reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist and double GRAMMY winner Carrie Underwood broke multiple records with the blockbuster radio and sales success from her debut disc, Some Hearts, and the excitement continues unabated as “So Small,” the first single from her upcoming album, explodes onto the Billboard/R&R country airplay chart at #20, marking the highest chart entry by a solo country female in Nielsen BDS history.
Written by Carrie with Luke Laird and GRAMMY-winning songwriter Hillary Lindsey (who co-wrote three tracks on Carrie’s debut disc, including the chart-topping “Wasted” and “Jesus, Take the Wheel”), “So Small” was this week’s most-added new single at Billboard/R&R and Country Aircheck. Serviced to country radio last Monday, with an official airplay impact date of today, “So Small” is already spinning on a whopping 128 country reporting stations.
With its #20 debut at Billboard/R&R and a #25 entry in Country Aircheck, the track also earns the distinction of becoming the highest debuting single of any country artist this year.

“So Small” Hits Country Radio Today!!
Nashville, TN – Two-time GRAMMY winner and reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist Carrie Underwood has new music at country radio today, with the delivery of “So Small,” the first single from her upcoming album, releasing October 23. The song was co-written by Carrie with Luke Laird and GRAMMY-winning songwriter Hillary Lindsey (who co-wrote three tracks on Carrie’s debut disc, including the chart-topping “Wasted” and “Jesus, Take the Wheel”).
Of the new single, Carrie reflects, “‘So Small’ is a feeling song on how people invest so much of their time and energy into things that aren’t really important. And you don’t really realize that until it’s too late.”
After co-writing one song on her six-million-selling 19 Recordings/Arista Records/Arista Nashville debut disc, Some Hearts, “So Small” marks the first of several Carrie co-writes to be included on her upcoming album, and its message is one she feels can hit home with everyone, including herself.
“And we’re all guilty of it, as I know I am, of just letting silly things get in the way. The smallest thing can almost ruin my day, and at some point I realize, ‘Good gracious, Carrie! What are you doing?’ I have a great life, and we need to remember the things that are truly important.”
Underwood’s to-be-titled new disc reunites her with producer Mark Bright, who helmed seven tracks on Some Hearts.

Carrie to Release New Album October 23!
Nashville, TN – One of this year’s most anticipated new albums is set for release October 23, as two-time GRAMMY winner and reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist Carrie Underwood delivers her new 19 Recordings / Arista Nashville collection – the follow-up to her multi-award-winning juggernaut debut, Some Hearts.
The massive, cross-format success of Some Hearts scored at country and pop radio with four #1 country airplay singles and Top 10 success at Hot AC and Mainstream Top 40, while the album soared to six-times Platinum certification, becoming one of only two country debuts in history ever to reach that milestone.
Produced by Mark Bright, who helmed seven tracks on Some Hearts, the to-be-titled new disc is currently being completed, but will include additional songwriting from Carrie, who co-penned the album track, “I Ain’t in Checotah Anymore,” on Some Hearts.
Released November 15, 2005, Carrie’s Some Hearts has been #1 for a remarkable 27 of its 86 chart weeks – holding the #1 slot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart across multiple weeks in 2005, 2006, and 2007. With SoundScan sales of nearly 1,095,000 copies this year alone, Some Hearts is – 20 months after its release – the best-selling country album of 2007.
