Where are you from? Birmingham, Alabama
What was the very first Carrie Underwood song you heard? I watched Carrie from the moment she auditioned for American Idol. As soon as her first CD came out after she won, I bought it immediately. You could say her first song on idol was the first song I heard her sing but you could say it was either Independence Day or Inside Your Heaven.
How many years have you been a Carrie Underwood fan? I have been a fan since the very beginning. As soon as I saw her audition on American idol, I knew she was a star. Bo Bice was actually from my hometown so I watched him but when I saw Carrie perform, my allegiance switched immediately from Bo to Carrie.
How many Carrie Underwood shows have you been to? I have been lucky enough to see Carrie twice. I went to her Play On tour and I just saw her in November for The Storyteller Tour. Both concerts left me speechless and I would do anything to go back to those nights.
What is the farthest you have travelled for a Carrie Underwood show? I drove from school to home which is only two hours. I would drive across the country for a Carrie show in a heartbeat.
What is one thing that sets you apart from other Carrie Underwood fans? I have been a fan from the beginning. It is what I’m known for around all of my friends. I love Carrie and everything she stands for. She inspires me everyday to live a healthy life and to just live life to the fullest.
Tell us your favorite Carrie Underwood related story: I remember the day I got the email saying I won a meet and greet. I had never felt that excited in my life. Right after I met Carrie, I stood in the hallway and couldn’t believe what had just happened. I walked and met my sister and started crying because Carrie was just so beautiful and amazing and I couldn’t believe i had just met THE Carrie Underwood.

In addition, BMI took the opportunity to present Underwood with the latest three of her 14 career BMI songwriting awards for “Heartbeat,” “Little Toy Guns,” and “Smoke Break.” These awards are traditionally given out at BMI’s Country Awards Dinner in November, which Underwood was unable to attend due to her hosting preparation for the CMA Awards. Mike O’Neill, BMI’s President and CEO, spoke to the room of industry heavy-hitters about Underwood’s impressive career and commented that, “Not every superstar is a songwriter, but Carrie is. She has earned the respect of her colleagues, not only for her singing, but also for her brilliant songwriting and storytelling, and that is an accomplishment that cannot be overstated.”
In accepting the award, Underwood remarked, “I am beyond blessed to get to do what I do, and am grateful that I am surrounded by such incredible people.
